In wall load center to on wall box
anyone have any pics or tips on how to transition from an in wall breaker box/load center to a wall mounted subpanel or conduit?
I would like to be able to do this as cleanly as possible. |
Re: In wall load center to on wall box
The Black and Decker Advanced Wiring handbook has very clear descriptions and photos of doing this, but I haven't had a scanner in years.

All the reviews I've read say it's indispensable. |
Re: In wall load center to on wall box
If it were me i would just come out of the bottom/side of the main.....into the back of the sub panel.....leaveing nothing exposed
I would probably just slot the sheetrock below the main...and mount the sub over the slot to cover it...If i wanted to go to the side i would do the same thing but i would then have to repair the sheetrock (to me a sht rock repair is pretty minor) if i was going to a conduit.....i would do the same thing as above ..substituing a Jct box or a disconnect box for the sub panel then take a conduit off of the Jct box to whereever. it could be done with either romex or flex conduit ...i tend to prefer pulling through conduit myself i am assuming your asking a physical installation question and not a wiring diagram question? If its a wiring question....its really simple....breaker...correctly load sized wire......termination |

This is what I am looking to do, just trying to get a better idea how to mount.
Right now it is looking like a fire treated 3/4 inch plywood mounting board adjacent to my current in wall breaker box. I have lots of xp with electricity and wiring, just not as much with conduit, especially when doing transitions like this. |
